Job Summary:
Perform direct assembly/ sub-assembly tasks to meet production schedules in accordance with quality and safety standards. Work is to be performed in adherence to safety guidelines and operator instruction sheets.
Key Responsibilities of Production Operators:
- Operate various machines involved in the assembly of parts by inspecting and inserting pieces, activating machines, unloading and inspecting assembled parts and placing them in the appropriate container. (Following operator instructions and within quality, safety and cycle time guidelines)
- Assemble components and parts in accordance with standardized work, one-piece flow, JES’s and within quality and safety guidelines.
- Complete daily production cards and ensure counts are correct when packing.
- always Maintain good housekeeping on fixtures and workstation.
- Report any damage or quality issues resulting from damage.
- Required to be at workstation to commence shift on time, unless otherwise instructed by immediate supervisor/ team leader/ co-leader.
- Read and apply Product Manuals – operator instruction sheets, quality specifications, safety standards – to fit sub-assemble and assemble parts and components.
- Perform maintenance, safety checks, sensor checks and clean line machine equipment daily.
- Use Safety and Preventative Maintenance to ensure equipment operates within safety specifications.
- Conduct inspections as required by operation instructions, quality alerts, inspections, first off/ lot control and certification logs.
- Use checking aids/ quality fixtures to monitor quality checks.
- Advise Maintenance Technicians on machine complications.
- Ensure proper labelling of all part bins/ containers.
- Provide coaching and guidance to new Assembly Operators as requested by the Supervisor or Team Leader.
- Required to follow FIFO procedure.
- Participates in 5S cleaning activities and follows 5S standards
- Required to reduce scrap/ rework.
- Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures.
- Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures.
- Reports all unsafe and unhealthy conditions or acts to management immediately.
- Reports injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately to your Supervisor.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Must adhere to all MAFACT requirements
- Adhering to all IATF 16949 policies and procedures
- Must comply with all ISO 14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) systems and standards as it pertains to their work
- Abide by all AODA and C-TPAT procedures that apply to their position
Qualifications / Education / Experience:
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Must be able to consistently lift and carry parts weighing up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to continuously:
- Perform fine finger movements.
- Utilize hands to grip/grasp tools, parts, and materials.
- Perform pushing/pulling movements.
- Perform bending/stooping movements.
- Work in a standing position throughout the shift.

- DAYS: Mon - Fri, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (daily and weekend OT possible)
- EVENING: Mon - Fri, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (daily and weekend OT possible)
- OVERNIGHT: Mon - Fri, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (daily and weekend OT possible)
